Renewable Energy Consumer Code

The Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) is a voluntary code of practice for businesses that sell or lease renewable energy generation systems to domestic consumers in the UK. RECC members must comply with a set of high standards, including:

  • Providing clear and accurate information about their products and services.
  • Offering fair and competitive pricing.
  • Installing systems in a professional and timely manner.
  • Providing good customer service.
  • Resolving any disputes fairly and efficiently.

RECC is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) and is also a TrustMark Scheme Operator. This means that consumers can be confident that RECC members are reputable and trustworthy businesses.

Using an RECC member solar installer offers a number of benefits to consumers, including:

  • Peace of mind knowing that the installer is committed to providing a high level of service.
  • Access to a dispute resolution process if things go wrong.
  • Eligibility for the RECC Guarantee, which provides financial protection to consumers in the event of a problem with their solar PV system.
